From the System Administration tool you can edit and view the status of the JobServer Engine. Using the Engine Control tool, system wide job scheduling can be enabled/disabled and system wide job processing can be enabled/disabled. If the JobServer Engine is in Idling state, these functions will automatically be in disabled state. Also during Gradual startup mode system wide job scheduling and system job processing are automatically disabled.
This field shows the status of the JobServer Engine. The values can be:
Current time used by JobServer.
Shows the status of the scheduling engine within JobServer. The administrator has the option of suspending all jobs from being scheduled for the entire system, including all Partitions. If suspended, no jobs can be scheduled for all Partitions. Once scheduling is enabled again, jobs can be allowed to run.
Shows the status of job processing within JobServer. The administrator has the option of suspending all job processing across all Partitions. If suspended, jobs that get scheduled or are run manually, will get put in the Queue, but will remain in the Queue until job processing is enabled again.
When job processing is suspended, all Partitions will be prevented from running any new jobs, whether the individual Partition is enabled or not. This is a system wide control across all Partitions. Jobs that have already started to run will continue to run to completion, but new Jobs will remain in the Queue. Once job processing is allowed again, Partitions can be allowed to run jobs that are pending in their respective Queues.
